Dieynaba Fall was 22 when she decided to turn her love of beautiful, handmade fashion into a business. Today she runs Zeyna Najeeb, an artisanal brand specializing in handmade, beaded bags, pieces she designs to be elegant, original, and unmistakably crafted by hand.
“I have always been drawn to creativity, manual work, and beautiful accessories,” Dieynaba says. “I wanted to build something of my own that would reflect both my passion for fashion and my desire to create value with my hands.” Starting Zeyna Najeeb was her way of proving something to herself, that it’s possible to begin small, with limited means, and grow from there.

One Bag, Photographed, Then Taken Apart
Every founder has a moment that tests their resolve. For Dieynaba, it was the simple recurring problem of money! Without the funds to keep a real inventory on hand, she couldn’t produce multiple designs at once. Her workaround was as resourceful as it was exhausting, make one bag, photograph it to show customers, then dismantle it and reuse the same beads and materials to build the next design.
“It was exhausting, time-consuming, and occasionally discouraging,” she admits, “because I wanted to show variety to my customers without yet having the necessary resources to do so.”
What kept her going wasn’t a lucky break, it was patience and a refusal to wait for perfect conditions. “I reminded myself why I had started, and I chose to move forward with the means available to me instead of waiting for perfect conditions,” she says. “This experience taught me to be creative, persevering, and to make the most of limited resources.”
Small Wins, Real Pride
Ask Dieynaba what she’s proudest of, and it isn’t a sales milestone or a press mention, it’s simpler than that. “One of the moments I am proudest of is simply seeing my ideas come to life through the bags I create and being able to present them as a real brand,” she says. “Each finished product reminds me that I started with very little, but still chose to move forward.”
She’s equally proud of what she didn’t do: give up. “I did not give up despite the difficulties, and I continue to believe in the potential of my business.”
Eyes on What’s Next
Zeyna Najeeb’s collaboration with Kosmos Innovation Center is just getting started, and Dieynaba is candid about being early in the process. “As this is my first experience with the program, I am still at the beginning of this journey,” she says, “but I already view this opportunity as an enriching experience, it allows me to discover an environment that values entrepreneurship, innovation, and support for young project leaders.”
Looking ahead, her plans are concrete. She wants to expand her collection with more original designs, sharpen her brand identity, strengthen her online presence, and, perhaps most importantly given how her business started, build up a real stock of inventory so she can respond to customer demand faster. Longer term, she pictures Zeyna Najeeb growing into a fuller fashion and accessories brand built on artisanal craft.
Dieynaba’s Advice to Other Young Founders
Her guidance to anyone thinking about starting comes straight from experience:
Start with what you have. “Many young people wait to have enough money, enough equipment, or perfect conditions before launching. However, it is often by taking the first step with few resources that you actually begin to make progress.”
Be patient and consistent. “Entrepreneurship can be difficult, especially at the beginning, and results do not always come quickly. But regularity, discipline, and trust in your vision ultimately make a massive difference.”
