In many rural areas of Senegal, farmers face a persistent challenge. They have fertile land, access to water, and hardworking teams, yet without reliable energy, their potential remains limited. Abdallah Ndiaye, 23, saw this gap firsthand and decided to turn it into an opportunity. Today, as Founder and Technical Director of Acces Energie Solaire, he is providing intelligent solar-powered water pumping systems that help farmers irrigate their land autonomously, reduce costs, and adopt more sustainable practices. He told us how joining Kosmos Innovation Center had helped him to progress.

“The problem was not agriculture itself, but access to energy,” Abdallah explains. “Many producers were abandoning cultivatable land simply because the cost of fuel for water pumping had become unbearable. We created Acces Energie Solaire to provide a solution that empowers farmers and protects their livelihoods.”
The company designs, installs, and optimizes solar solutions in several regions, including Mboro, Notto, Pout, Malicounda, Sindia, and Keur Momar Sarr. By replacing diesel and unreliable electricity with clean solar power, farmers gain autonomy, reduce operating costs, and improve productivity. Abdallah emphasizes that every installation is tailored to the farmer’s needs, ensuring maximum efficiency and long-term impact.
Building trust was one of the first challenges. “Convincing farmers to abandon diesel for a technology they did not know was not easy,” he says. “What helped was proof by example: we installed the systems, demonstrated measurable results in cost reduction and crop yields, and let the numbers speak for themselves. The first successful installations became our strongest arguments.”
Joining the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) program marked a turning point. “Before KIC, I had a technical solution,” Abdallah recalls. “After KIC, I had a structured business model, a clear growth vision, and the posture of an entrepreneur. I learned that your story, your structure, and your strategy matter just as much as your product. That mindset has guided every decision since.”
Since completing the program, Acces Energie Solaire has grown significantly. The company transitioned from a technical initiative to a structured business with standardized installations, expanded presence, and strengthened credibility. Winning second place in the program validated both the work on the ground and the impact of the business model. Beyond awards, the real reward has been seeing farmers regain control over their land, increase production, and adopt sustainable practices with confidence.
Looking ahead, Abdallah has ambitious plans. He intends to expand nationwide, optimize the supply chain, develop smarter and more accessible solutions, and eventually establish a local assembly operation for solar equipment. Each step is guided by a vision of empowering rural communities and demonstrating that innovation can thrive outside urban centers.
Reflecting on his journey, Abdallah emphasizes the human side of entrepreneurship. “Start with the problem, not the idea. Understand the real challenges people face. Perseverance is more important than talent. It is not the most brilliant who succeeds, but the one who refuses to quit. Every obstacle is an opportunity to grow stronger and make a real difference.”
Through Acces Energie Solaire, Abdallah Ndiaye shows that creativity, determination, and a focus on community needs can transform a simple observation into a business that empowers people, strengthens local economies, and inspires others to imagine what is possible for rural Africa.
